Media Advisory/Canadian Dairy Commission: The World Dairy Industry Meets in Vancouver!

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 5, 2005) - The World Dairy Summit 2005 will be held in Vancouver on September 17-22. Over 1000 leaders from around the world will congregate at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre under the theme "Partnering - The Future of the World Dairy Industry". Canada and the United States are co-hosting this year's Summit.

This meeting is organized by the International Dairy Federation (IDF). Founded in 1903 by the dairy sector worldwide, the IDF is where dairy specialists of all kinds meet to resolve common issues and exchange ideas and experience. IDF is the dairy world's unique partner for dialogue and expert advice on dairy issues.

The program will address issues such as:

- international trade - dairy marketing
- the future of the international dairy industry - dairy nutrition
- adapting farming to consumer trends - functional foods
- organization methods for producers - health claims
- animal health - shelf life of
- on-farm food safety dairy products

"The sessions will challenge us to think beyond where we are today" says Gaetan Paquette, Senior Director of Finance and Operations at the Canadian Dairy Commission and co-chair of the Summit.
