Media Advisory: Canadian Forces Small Arms Concentration 2010

KINGSTON, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 2, 2010) - All news media of the National Capital Region are invited to take advantage of unique opportunities to do live hits from the Connaught Ranges and Primary Training Centre, in Nepean, during the 2010 Canadian Forces Small Arms Concentration (CFSAC), where over 300 participants from the Canadian Forces, the Canadian Rangers, foreign militaries and the RCMP will compete in various matches.

The following dynamic matches and events open to the news media:

  • Thursday, September 9 - Combat Pistol Matches beginning at 8:00 a.m. and Combat Pistol Team Matches (including International Teams) at 1:00 p.m.

  • Friday, September 17 – Soldier's Cup and Assault Group Matches beginning at 7 a.m. and Exposition with CFSAC sponsors beginning at 9 a.m.

  • Saturday, September 18 – Final Stage of the Queen's Medal Competition – 8 a.m.

  • Minister of National Defence presents the Queen's Medal to top marksman – 3:45 p.m. TBC

To get there; take Highway 417 to the Moodie exit in Nepean. Follow Moodie Drive north to Carling Ave., then turn left heading west on Carling Ave. to Rifle Rd. The Ranges are clearly marked with a large DND sign and a smaller RCMP sign. Turn right and follow the road for 2 km and then turn left at the NCR sign of Shirley's Bay Park. Proceed through the gate. Upon arrival all news media must report to Maj Greg Poehlmann, LFDTS Public Affairs Officer.
