Media Advisory: Canadian Labour Congress Wants Alberta's Workers to "Turn Up the Volume" and be Heard

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Aug. 30, 2007) - Barbara Byers, Executive Vice-President of the Canadian Labour Congress, will be available to the media in Edmonton on Labour Day to talk about Alberta's upcoming municipal elections and why working people need to make sure they vote for candidates they know will put the needs of working families first.

She will also talk about the ongoing loss of the country's best jobs - over 300,000 manufacturing jobs in the last five years, half of them over the last twelve months - and why working people must call their MPs to demand immediate government action to reverse the trend.

In Edmonton, Byers will participate in the BBQ for the unemployed and underemployed, organized by the Edmonton and District Labour Council at Giovanni Caboto Park.
