Media Advisory: Canadian National Swim Team to Help Red Cross Kick off Water Safety Week with a Splash!

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - May 31, 2006) - The past, present and future of swimming in Canada will come together at a press conference in Vancouver on Thursday, June 1, 2006, when officials from the Canadian Red Cross, Swimming Canada, and the Canadian National Swim Team will announce the start of the Bell Grand Prix-Mel Zajac International Swim Meet, launch Water Safety Week (June 4 - 10), and celebrate the Canadian Red Cross Water Safety Program's 60th Anniversary.

Red Cross and Swimming Canada will also use this opportunity to announce a new multi-year partnership that will see both organizations reaching out to Canadians with important messages of safety, fitness and a life-long love of water.

Representatives from Canadian Red Cross, Swimming Canada, and members of Canada's national swim team will be available for interviews following the event.
