Media Advisory: Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission Public Proceedings in Port Hope to Be Webcast and Telecast Live on Local Cable Channel

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 13, 2009) - The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) will be holding public proceedings in Port Hope, Ontario, on August 26 and 27, 2009, at the Town Park Recreation Centre at 62 McCaul Street. The proceedings will be Webcast live on the CNSC Web site at www.nuclearsafety.gc.ca and will also be broadcast on the local cable channel TVCogeco (channel 10). Please check local listings for programming information.

On August 26, the CNSC is holding a one-day public hearing (http://www.nuclearsafety.gc.ca/eng/commission/hearings/documents_browse/date.cfm?dt=26-Aug-2009) in Port Hope to consider Atomic Energy of Canada Limited's application for a waste nuclear substance licence to operate a long-term low-level waste management facility in Port Hope, Ontario. On August 27, the CNSC is holding a public meeting (http://www.nuclearsafety.gc.ca/eng/commission/meetings/documents_browse/meeting.cfm?mid=128).
