Select-a-seat and Heritage Classic watch party also scheduled for season-seat owners

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Feb. 28, 2014) - The Ottawa Senators, Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities, and the Ottawa Senators Foundation in partnership with the City of Ottawa, announced today that the fourth season of the I Love To Skate program will conclude on Sunday, March 2, at Canadian Tire Centre and will coincide with the Senators' annual select-a-seat event with new and renewed season-seat owners.

The Canadian Tire Jumpstart and Ottawa Senators Foundation I Love To Skate program provides disadvantaged youth in neighbourhoods across Ottawa with the opportunity to learn how to skate at City of Ottawa outdoor rinks with certified instructors for four weeks beginning in January. Participants also receive a helmet and skates courtesy of Canadian Tire Jumpstart and the Ottawa Senators Foundation. Sunday's season finale will see more than 535 participants and members of their immediate families enjoy the opportunity to skate on the same ice surface as the Senators while also partaking in a pizza party in Canadian Tire Centre's Coliseum rooms. Participants and their families will be joined by dignitaries from Canadian Tire Jumpstart, the Ottawa Senators Foundation and City of Ottawa to celebrate the program's continued success.

Since the inception of the I Love to Skate program four years ago, Canadian Tire Jumpstart, the Ottawa Senators Foundation and the city of Ottawa have taught more than 1,700 children how to skate.

Also on Sunday, the Senators will host their annual select-a-seat event by welcoming season-seat owners to Canadian Tire Centre. New and renewed season seat owners for the 2014-15 season will join team account managers to view and test new seat locations to move or upgrade their seats ahead of next season. Each season-seat owner has also been invited to remain in the venue to meet members of the team's alumni, view the team's dressing room, induldge in free concessions and to catch the Senators oppose Vancouver in the 2014 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic on the Bell HD Screen at 4 p.m.

Where: Canadian Tire Centre, please use the Gate 2 entrance for building access. Dignitaries will welcome participants in the coliseum rooms at lower Gate 2.

Photo opportunity: Media will have the opportunity to take images of City of Ottawa dignitaries, in addition to Senators and Canadian Tire representatives addressing the first group beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Coliseum rooms at lower Gate 2. The group will then proceed to the zamboni entrance, where dignitaries and volunteers will assist in tying skates and interact with participants prior to the final on-ice skate of the season. Dignitaries and representatives will also be available for interviews after helping to tie skates. On-ice group photos of the I Love to Skate program participants (three different groups) will take place on the ice surface at 10:40 a.m., 11:40 a.m. and 12:40 p.m.

Visuals will also be permitted throughout the day as season-seat owners review new seating locations in addition to throughout the watch party later that afternoon.
