Media Advisory: Canadians Rally to Save the Seals

Rallies planned for Vancouver, Ottawa, Toronto, and Halifax on March 15th. Kelowna rally scheduled for March 12th. Attention: Assignment Editor, Environment Editor, News Editor, Photo Editor, World News Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 10, 2005) - Canadians opposed to the commercial seal hunt will join concerned citizens in 41 cities around the globe on March 15th, the International Day of Protest Against the Canadian Seal Hunt. Canada now kills more seals each year than it has at any point in the past 50 years, with over 350,000 seals killed in Canada's 2004 seal hunt. One million seals will be killed over a 3-year period-95% of them less than 3 months old-making this the largest slaughter of marine mammals anywhere on the planet.

Rallies are planned in Halifax, Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver on March 15th and Kelowna on March 12th.
