Media Advisory: Ceremonial Guard 2012 Season Launch


OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 25, 2012) - Media are invited to attend the launch of the Ceremonial Guard (CG) 2012 season with the first mounting of the guard on Parliament Hill.

When: Tuesday, 26 June 2012, 10:00 a.m.

Where: Parliament Hill, Ottawa

The CG is a public duties unit of the Canadian Forces. It conducts ceremonial, musical and drill performances throughout the National Capital Region from June until late August.

Regular duties of the CG include: The Guard Mount ceremony, performed daily on Parliament Hill at 10 a.m.; posting of sentries on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the National War Memorial, daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and the posting of sentries at Rideau Hall, the official residence of His Excellency The Right Honorable David Johnson, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
