OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 27, 2015) - On Tuesday, April 28, Canadians will observe a National Day of Mourning in memory of workers killed or injured on the job. Canadian Labour Congress Executive Vice-President Marie Clarke Walker will participate in two events in British Columbia:
- 10:30 a.m., Thunderbird Square (behind City Hall), Abbotsford
- 5:00 p.m., Vancouver Art Gallery (Georgia Street side)
More than 3,800 Canadians died on the job between 2010 and 2013. In 2013, 241,933 workers were injured badly enough to have to miss work. Official numbers for 2014 aren't yet available.
The Canadian Labour Congress is the national voice of the labour movement, representing 3.3 million Canadian workers.
