Media Advisory: Community Legal Clinic Releases Ministry of Labour Findings Against Former Directors of Regal Restaurants


TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - July 30, 2015) - After over a year of investigation, the Ontario Ministry of Labour has finally completed its investigation of the employment standards claims of over sixty former employees of Regal Restaurants. The claims against Regal and its former directors included unpaid wages, overtime pay, and various other statutory entitlements.

At a press conference to be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at 180 Dundas Street West, Suite 1701, Toronto, Ontario, the Metro Toronto Chinese & Southeast Asian Legal Clinic (MTCSALC) will release the order issued by the Ministry of Labour against the companies and former directors involved.

MTCSALC represents sixty-one former employees of Regal Restaurants and other businesses owned by Ellen Pun, one of the Directors of Regal. For the last year and a half, MTCSALC has been working closely with Ministry of Labour investigators on the Regal file.

Apart from releasing the Ministry of Labour findings and orders, MTCSALC will also issue its demand to the Ontario Government with respect to this matter at the press conference.
