Media Advisory/Correctional Service of Canada: Inmates Donate Their Artworks for a Charity Auction

With Captain Robert Piché as Honorary Chairman

LAVAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 7, 2006) - The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), in partnership with the Association de rencontres culturelles avec les detenu(e)s (ARCAD), will be holding a charity art auction on Wednesday, November 15ft, 2006 at the Maison des Arts de Laval. The artworks have been created by offenders serving federal sentences in an institution or in the community.

With Captain Robert Piche as honorary chairman, the evening will begin with a reception at 6:00 p.m., followed by the auction at 7:00 p.m. The artworks have been donated by the artists and include paintings, sculptures, drawings and ceramics pieces.

All the proceeds from the sale will be donated to Centraide. The auction gives offenders the opportunity to give back to the community by making use of their artistic talents to help charitable organizations.
