Media Accreditation for Mission STS-127

LONGUEUIL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - May 7, 2009) - In a few short weeks, Canadian Space Agency astronaut Julie Payette will embark on her second space flight. Space shuttle Endeavour with Payette and the crew of Mission STS-127 aboard is scheduled to launch from Kennedy Space Centre in Florida on June 13, 2009.

NASA Accreditation

Canadian media representatives who wish to cover this mission can now submit their accreditation request to NASA. Media representatives must work for legitimate, verifiable media organizations. They may also be required to submit accreditation requests at a number of NASA sites. (All times Eastern).

In addition to the requirements below, Canadian media representatives, regardless of citizenship, must provide data including their citizenship, visa or passport number, expiration date, and alien registration number if applicable.

No substitution by non-credentialed members of the media will be allowed at any NASA facility.

Kennedy Space Centre - KSC (Florida)

Media applying for credentials at Kennedy should submit requests via the Web at https://media.ksc.nasa.gov. Media must use work e-mail addresses, not personal accounts, when applying.

Accredited media will have access from launch through the end of the mission to NASA sites. Application deadline for foreign media is three weeks out from launch. Media with special logistic requests for Kennedy Space Center must contact Laurel Lichtenberger at laurel.a.lichtenberger@nasa.gov.

Workspace in the NASA News Center and the News Center Annex is provided on a first-come basis, with one space per organization. To set up temporary telephone, fax, ISDN or network lines, media must make arrangements with BellSouth at 800-213-4988. Media must have an assigned seat in the Kennedy newsroom prior to setting up lines. To obtain an assigned seat, contact Patricia Christian at patricia.christian-1@nasa.gov. Media must have a public affairs escort to any other Kennedy area except the Launch Complex 39 cafeteria.

YOU MAY SEND IN YOUR CREDITIALS IMMIDIATELY BUT WE ASK THAT YOU KINDLY DO NOT CONTACT PATRICIA CHRISTIAN UNTIL AFTER THE LAUNCH OF STS-125 (currently set for May 11).

Johnson Space Centre - JSC (Houston)

Media may either present Kennedy STS-127 mission credentials or obtain specific accreditation for JSC by calling the Center's newsroom at (281) 483-5111. Media planning to cover the mission only from JSC should only apply at the Center.

The deadline for submitting JSC accreditation requests is three weeks out from the launch for non-U.S. media, regardless of citizenship.

Media covering the mission from Johnson using Kennedy credentials must contact the JSC newsroom to arrange workspace, phone lines and other logistics. Johnson is responsible for media accreditation if the shuttle lands at White Sands Space Harbor, New Mexico. If a landing is imminent at White Sands, credentials will be arranged.

Dryden Research Flight Centre

The shuttle could land on short notice at Dryden. Media should consider accrediting Los Angeles-based personnel who could travel quickly to Dryden.

Submit requests for accreditation to Dryden Public Affairs for non-U.S. media regardless of citizenship.

Please fax requests for Dryden accreditation on company letterhead to (661) 276-3566. Note that e-mail requests to pao@dfrc.nasa.gov are only acceptable for media who have been to Dryden within the past year. Requests must include a phone number and business e-mail address for follow-up contact.
