Media Advisory/CSA-REMINDER: Meet the James Webb Space Telescope

A role model for exploring the origins of the universe

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - July 14, 2008) - On Monday, July 14, the Canadian Space Agency invites media representatives to see an impressive full-scale, tennis court-sized model of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) on its first visit to Canada. Slated for launch in 2013, the JWST is billed as the successor to the Hubble Space Telescope. The model weighs 5.4 tonnes, and is approximately 24 metres long, 12 metres wide and 12 metres tall.

Media will also have the opportunity to gain greater insight, ask questions and interview the partners involved in the mission, including: NASA, the European Space Agency, Northrop Grumman Space Technology, the National Research Council of Canada Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics, the Universite de Montreal, COM DEV and the Canadian Space Agency.
