Media Advisory: CUPE 966 and Ontario Health Coalition to hold press conference Tuesday, December 6 at 9:30 a.m.

BRAMPTON, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 5, 2011) - Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 966 and the Ontario Health Coalition (OHC) will hold a press conference on Tuesday, December 6 at 9:30 a.m. at Peel Manor Long-Term Care Centre.

The press conference will address the possible sale of Peel Manor, the largest long-term care facility in Peel Region, and the threat to four other long-term care facilities in the Region.

"Peel Manor has offered excellent care to the most vulnerable members of our community for over 100 years," said Mary-Jo Falle, President of CUPE 966, representing personal care workers and kitchen staff at the Manor.

"Peel Manor, and the other four homes in Peel, provide a high level of care - as good as or better than any long-term care home in the province - and are home to hundreds of seniors. Displacing them would severely affect their quality of life. The mere suggestion of a sale has already begun to make our residents anxious," said Falle.
