TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 27, 2015) - Hailing from every corner of the province, hundreds of members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario will join the rally at Queen's Park on Thursday to Keep Hydro Public.
CUPE Ontario has repeatedly raised concerns expressed by leading economists and legal experts that the proposed Hydro One privatization will lead to higher costs and a loss of local control and accountability. Already-squeezed operating budgets of public services such as health care, schools and child care centres will also be hit by hydro rate increases resulting from privatization.
