MEDIA ADVISORY: CUPE members show support for mental health services in Peterborough

PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 31, 2016) - On Wednesday, mental health services and the people who deliver them will get a show of support from the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), as local union members hold a solidarity picket at the administrative office of the local branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) from 12:15 pm to 12:45 pm.

Workers at CMHA Haliburton, Kawartha Pine Ridge are represented by CUPE Local 5258.

CUPE members fear that services for vulnerable people are suffering as the result of underfunding to the agency, which recently laid off a housing maintenance worker who is also president of CUPE 5258.
