Media Advisory: CUPE Nova Scotia's Black History Month event to celebrate legacy of Dr. Rocky Jones


TRURO, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwired - Feb. 18, 2016) - The legacy of African Nova Scotian human rights lawyer and activist Rocky Jones will be celebrated at CUPE Nova Scotia's 2016 Black History Month event.

The event will be held at the Truro campus of the Nova Scotia Community College, on Friday, February 19, 2016 from 4:30 - 7:30 pm. Entertainment and light refreshments to follow.

A panel discussion inspired by Jones's life work will include:

  • Lynn Jones, PSAC labour and human rights activist and sister of Rocky Jones
  • Angela Downey, UNIFOR labour and human rights activist
  • Liz Paris, CUPE Nova Scotia Equity Vice-President and recipient of CUPE's 2015 Ed Blackman Anti-Racism Award
