Media advisory: CUPE Ontario-Greetings from Wisconsin! State labour leader Stephanie Bloomingdale will share experiences at Toronto public forum

Wisconsin AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Stephanie Bloomingdale keynote speaker at Monday afternoon community forum organized by CUPE Ontario

TORONTO, ONTARI0--(Marketwire - March 11, 2011) - The struggle of Wisconsin's teachers, nurses, public employees and other hard-working residents holds key lessons for people under attack here in Toronto and across Ontario, according to Candace Rennick, Secretary-Treasurer of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Ontario.

For that reason, it is fitting that Stephanie Bloomingdale, Secretary-Treasurer of the Wisconsin State American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), will be the keynote speaker at a community forum organized by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Ontario.

"We're absolutely thrilled Stephanie is able to join us here in Toronto. I know that we have a lot to learn from her, and from the struggle of hundreds of thousands of her fellow Wisconsinites.

For the past three weeks, Bloomingdale has been one of thousands of Wisconsinites who have rallied, protested, mobilized and camped out in and around the State House in Madison to protest Governor Scott Walker's anti-democratic efforts to strip hard-working Wisconsinites of rights they have had for more than 50 years.

Media and the public are invited to attend the forum, which takes place Monday, March 14, between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. at the Toronto Sheraton Centre, located at 123 Queen Street West, in the Dominion Ballroom.
