Media Advisory: CUPE Ontario, injured worker groups raising protest against WSIB changes

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 15, 2014) - Fred Hahn, president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario, will join members and injured worker advocates for an information picket outside the Ministry of Labour in Toronto tomorrow.

CUPE Ontario is concerned that changes at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) will reduce benefits to workers injured on the job and increase the number of claims being denied. CUPE is also advocating for coverage to be extended so that workers are not left without adequate protection.

WHO: Fred Hahn, President, CUPE Ontario
WHAT: Information picket raising awareness about changes to WSIB
WHERE: Ministry of Labour, 400 University Avenue, Toronto
WHEN: 12:00 Noon, Friday, May 16

CUPE is Ontario's community union, with members providing quality public services we all rely on in every part of the province every day. CUPE Ontario members are proud to work in social services, health care, municipalities, school boards, universities and airlines.
