The Edmonton Gala's theme will mirror Foster's career which started in Edmonton almost 40 years ago. His first break as a young musician came when he joined a jazz group headed up by Tommy Banks. Banks saw Foster's talent and became his mentor. David was lured away from Edmonton when legendary rocker Ronnie Hawkins hired him to play key boards in his band.

Edmonton business leader and philanthropist Daryl Katz is the Honorary Chairman of the Gala Evening. He is joined by Co-Chairmen Tommy Banks and John Holmlund. Their organizing committee includes Angus and Heather Watt, Dianne Young, Doug Goss, Kathy Ferguson, Anne Finzer (CEO Inc.), Wayne Peterson (Star Search) and Allison Foster-Jones, Secretary Treasurer and Director of the David Foster Foundation.

"I am really excited about coming to Edmonton, it is a great city," said Foster. "Every time Edmonton folks rally together, truly great things happen, I am very appreciative that the community has opened its heart to the Foster Foundation kids."
