Media Advisory: Department of National Defence

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Feb. 3, 2014) - Media are invited to join soldiers from 31 Canadian Brigade Group in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, between February 17 and 21, 2014 for a major northern exercise.

Exercise TRILLIUM RESPONSE 14 will involve more than 300 members of 4th Canadian Division, primarily the Arctic Company Response Group and Domestic Response Company. They will be honing their skills in winter warfare, cold weather survival and the use of Arctic equipment, including Light Over Snow Vehicles (military snowmobiles). Ex TRILLIUM RESPONSE 14 will focus on proving the Division soldiers' ability to fight, move and communicate in the harsh conditions of the Northern winter.

There are limited opportunities for interested reporters to embed with the troops during this training exercise, including spending one night in the field.

When: February 17 to 21, 2014.

Where: Rankin Inlet, Nunavut

What: Canadian soldiers conducting winter warfare and survival training in the Arctic.
