CUPE 5088 members to hold information picket

PEMBROKE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 19, 2012) - Staff at Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley, members of Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 5088 are inviting supporters to a Solidarity BBQ on June 20, set to take place before the agency's Annual General Meeting (AGM). Join them in a solidarity social and information picket at the AGM.

On July 27, 2011, staff at Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley voted to join CUPE, becoming members of CUPE 5088. Since then, they have been met with resistance from their employer to bargain a first collective agreement. Almost a year later, they remain without a contract.

CUPE 5088 is asking for your support to reach a fair settlement that supports the workers and the services they provide to the community.

Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley provides services and supports to people with developmental disabilities in Ontario's largest county, with a population of over 100,000. These services and supports are delivered by front line workers to over 180 individuals with developmental disabilities and their families across the Ottawa Valley.
