Media Advisory: Director of Institute on Municipal Finance & Governance to Address Economic Club of Toronto

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 8, 2008) - Property tax incentives are applied across the United States in order to increase the municipal property tax base and to encourage economic growth. Recently, the City of Toronto has been introduced to the concept. The Director of the Institute on Municipal Finance and Governance at the Munk Centre for International Studies at the University of Toronto, Dr. Enid Slack will review such incentives. She will highlight the implications for Toronto and address the impact of property tax incentives on economic development and explore the question surrounding who should be included in such a reduction.
