Media Advisory: Disability and Rights Groups File Arguments in Death With Dignity Supreme Court Case Arguing Ban on Assisted Dying Is Unconstitutional

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Aug. 24, 2014) -

National and local media are invited to a press conference hosted by the BC Civil Liberties Association (BCCLA) in Toronto, tomorrow (August 25).

What: The civil liberties watchdog responsible for launching the death with dignity lawsuit will host a press conference with interveners who support the right to assisted dying for the seriously and incurably ill. Maureen Taylor, the widow of Dr. Donald Low, will also make a public statement in support of the case.

The interveners will announce the filing of their arguments in the case, which must be filed by August 29, 2014. The Supreme Court of Canada will hear the case in the fall.
