Media Advisory/DND: Funeral of Corporal Brent Donald Poland

SARNIA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - April 17, 2007) - Corporal Brent Donald Poland, who was killed in Afghanistan on April 8, 2007, will be remembered by family and friends at a funeral service to be held in Sarnia.



Where: Temple Baptist Church, 1410 Quinn Drive, Sarnia

When: Friday April 20, 2007 at 1 p.m

Officiating: The Reverend Robert Lemon of the St. John-in the-
Wilderness Anglican Church and Major Daniel Roushorne,
the 31 Canadian Brigade Group Padre.

Visitation: Wednesday and Thursday (April 18 and 19) evening at the
Temple Baptist Church. Please note that the visitation
is private and will not be open to the media.

Interment: Following the funeral service. Please note that the
interment is private and will not be open to the media.


Media are invited to cover the funeral service. However, cameras, video equipment and other photographic material will not be allowed inside the church. A media area will be set up outside of the church for that purpose.

The family of Cpl Poland wish to express their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of support and sympathy in their time of loss. To honour Brent, they have established a scholarship to assist the children of Brent's fallen comrades. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that expressions of sympathy and support be directed to "The RCR Fund - Fallen Soldiers Children's Education Fund" in care of the Smith Funeral Home.
