Media Advisory: Edmonton Students Among the First to See MADD Canada's Dynamic New Educational Film

OAKVILLE, ON--(Marketwired - September 17, 2015) - What would YOU do if you only had 24 hours to live? That's the question students are being asked to consider as they watch 24 Hours, MADD Canada's newest School Assembly Program.

24 Hours follows Michelle, Lainey and Nate as they attend a bush party dubbed "The End of the World". Getting into the spirit of the theme, the friends discuss what they would do if the end of the world really was coming and they only had 24 hours to live. As designated driver on the night of the party, Nate agrees he won't drink any alcohol. But Lainey later catches him smoking pot. Now, with no designated driver, the friends end up in a vehicle with a person they trust to be sober. They could never imagine how significant that earlier conversation about their last day would become.

MADD Canada and its National Sponsors, Allstate Insurance Company of Canada and RTL-Westcan Group of Companies, are hosting a special screening of 24 Hours for students and staff at Dan Knott Jr. High School on September 21 to highlight this year's powerful new program.

Media are welcome to attend the screening and speak with special guests, students and staff.

Road crashes are the number one cause of death among young people in Canada and more than 50 per cent of these deaths are alcohol and/or drug-related. MADD Canada produces the School Assembly Program to encourage young people to think and talk about the dangers of impaired driving, and to take precautions to protect themselves and their friends.

The production and delivery of the School Assembly Program is made possible by the generous support of partners such as: Kia Canada Inc., the Official Automotive Partner of MADD Canada; and National Sponsors Allstate Insurance Company of Canada and RTL Westcan. Thanks to these partners and our many provincial sponsors across the country, MADD Canada will deliver 24 Hours to approximately 2,250 schools this year.
