Media Advisory: Eleventh Project Homeless Connect to Bring Total Served to More Than 8,000

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Feb. 17, 2011) -

What: To date, close to 8,000 people at risk of or experiencing homelessness have attended 10 previous Project Homeless Connect events in Calgary.
   
   
  At the 11th Project Homeless Connect, those experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Calgary can access support from 40 agencies and services. Available services include medical treatment, provision of identification, mental health services, income support, employment counselling, haircuts, access to housing and more. Those attending will also receive comfort kits, clothing and a nutritious, hot lunch.
   
   
  In 2011, Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP will continue to provide significant support to sponsor three Project Homeless Connects.
   
   
When: Saturday, February 19, 2011
  8:00 a.m. Muffins/beverages provided in line before doors open
  9:00 a.m. Doors open to participants
  12:00 p.m. Lunch is served until 1:30 p.m.
  2:00 p.m. Participant intake closes
     
     
Where: Suncor Energy Centre, 150 – 6th Avenue SW, Calgary

  From 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., Jonathan Denis, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs and MLA for Calgary Egmont will serve coffee and muffins to participants as they enter the event
