Media Advisory: Encore! ENCORE! The Vanier Farmers Market Is Back!

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 7, 2009) - Starting August 8th the Quartier Vanier Merchants Association (BIA) farmers market is back by popular demand, and will open at the corner of Montreal Road and Hannah Street. The market features locally grown produce from the region's farmers. In addition to farmers, the 12 week event will also feature local restaurants and their specialties. "Our goal is to animate the street and create a visitor destination for our commercial zone", says Suzanne Valiquet, executive director of the BIA. Participating restaurants feature an array of foods from homemade jams, jellies, sauces and chutneys to Armenian, French and Lebanese baked delights.

On August 8, 15, September 5 and October 17th, Artsfest will debut at the market and will feature 4 days of staged performances presenting local artists and some from outside the area, coming from as far as Montreal.

Events get underway at 8 am on Saturday August 8th and Chair of the BIA, John Therien will be host and emcee of the new Artsfest kick-off.
