Media Advisory-Environment Canada: Lake Ontario Lakewide Management Plan Public Meeting

KINGSTON, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - June 7, 2005) - Media representatives are advised that the Lake Ontario Lakewide Management Plan (LaMP) Management Committee will be hosting a public meeting on Thursday, June 9 in Kingston, Ontario. The Management Committee consists of senior officials from the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Environment Canada, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.

The theme of the meeting is "Enhancing Lakewide Stewardship," with presentations by LaMP representatives as well as the Centre for Sustainabile Watersheds and the Finger Lakes - Lake Ontario Watershed Protection Alliance. Following presentations, a discussion period will be held to explore further opportunities for enhancing public and private stewardship of Lake Ontario and its water resources.
