Media Advisory: EPCOR Utilities President and CEO to Address Economic Club of Toronto

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 18, 2008) - Canadians and their governments are working to create a cleaner environment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. But the pressure from rising populations and growing economies is increasing national and global energy demand, making it difficult to achieve our environmental goals. What can government policy makers, corporations and individuals do to accelerate the adoption of clean energy in Canada? In his presentation, Canadian Electricity Association Chairman and EPCOR Utilities CEO Don Lowry will make the case that the best way to permanently reduce global greenhouse gas emissions from electricity generation is to invest in breakthrough technologies such as near-zero emission power and carbon capture and storage. His remarks will set out principles to guide the creation of a comprehensive vision for Canada's future that integrates energy, the environment and electrons -- helping Canada's economy and population grow while simultaneously reducing the environmental impact from electricity generation and consumption.
