Media Advisory: Etobicoke residents to jolt local MPPs and Councillors with Keep Hydro Public campaign

ETOBICOKE, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 10, 2016) - Etobicoke residents are teaming up with the Keep Hydro Public coalition to launch a new phase in the campaign to stop hydro privatization on Saturday, June 11.

Joining the growing campaign to jolt the Wynne government into halting their current plan to sell-off the majority of shares in Hydro One, Etobicoke residents will attend a local campaign launch this Saturday before they hit the streets to distribute leaflets urging Liberal MPP Yvan Baker to reflect the wishes of his constituents and speak out against hydro privatization.

Residents will also take aim at city councillor Stephen Holyday after this week's council debate considering the sell-off of Toronto Hydro. Holyday is the Mayor's designate on the board of Toronto Hydro.

An Environics poll of Toronto residents' reveals that 71 percent strongly oppose the sell-off of Toronto Hydro. Regional breakdown within the city shows 69 percent in Etobicoke are strongly opposed to the sell-off and 61% would be less likely to vote for a city councillor who supported the sale.
