TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 19, 2011) - The issue of a national securities regulator for Canada is one that is destined to heat up this year as the Supreme Court weighs in on the constitutionality of the federal Government's initiative. Two years after the Expert Panel on Securities Regulation released its report, Panel Chair and now Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund representing the constituency of Canada, Ireland and the Caribbean Tom Hockin, examines the question of a national securities regulator from an international perspective and, in particular, its potential role in promoting financial stability in these turbulent times.
