Media Advisory/Family Who Shares Military Tradition Featured on 2005 Veterans' Week Poster

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 18, 2005) - The Honourable Albina Guarnieri, Minister of Veterans Affairs, will launch the Veterans' Week poster for 2005 at an event at the National Arts Centre on Thursday, October 20th.

Featured on the poster are three generations of Canadians who share a military background. George Lawson from Weston, Ontario, is a Second World War Veteran who flew fighter reconnaissance missions in Mustangs and Spitfires over Europe. His son, Col. Tom Lawson of Ottawa, Ontario, is also a pilot, with experience flying both the CF-104 Starfighter over Germany and the CF-18 Hornet in Germany and at Cold Lake, Alberta. His son, Ben Lawson, is an officer cadet at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario and is training to become an air navigator. All three members of the family will be at the launch.
