Media Advisory/Farha Foundation: Ça Marche / Walk for AIDS-Together, We Can Do it! Sunday, September 16, 2007 at 10 AM, Montreal to Come Out and Walk

The Farha Foundation's 15th annual 7 km AIDS walk to be held in downtown Montreal in support of those living with HIV and AIDS.

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Sept. 12, 2007) - Over 10,000 walkers, 400 volunteers, 45 AIDS support/care agencies, the Farha family and the invincible Mrs. Evelyn Farha, 82 year old grandmother and mother of the late Ron Farha are ready to walk, to shout, sing, dance and be heard.

The Farha Foundation - Quebec's largest AIDS fundraising organization has mobilized the masses and will take to the streets on Sunday, September 16, 2007. For 15 years this organization has been at the forefront of raising funds for education awareness, prevention and care/support services for men, women, children, teenagers and the elderly living with HIV and AIDS.

"The walk is part advocacy, part celebration of the memories of those who have died of AIDS, but mostly it's about taking an assessment of where HIV and AIDS is right now in Quebec," says Evelyn Farha, Honorary President of Farha. "We all live with the hope that a cure will be found, but until that day we need to be active in raising funds and in being heard that AIDS can be prevented in Quebec."

In Quebec one person will become infected with HIV every 6 hours, and 50% of all AIDS cases among women and children in Canada reside in Quebec.

"We hope this walk will have people in this Province stand up and take notice, that AIDS could affect them or their loved ones," says Farha. "Maybe the walk on Sunday will prevent 4 new cases of HIV that day alone."

Since 1992, the Farha Foundation has distributed more than $7.1 millions to 45 AIDS organizations in Quebec making it the largest AIDS fundraising organization in the Province.
