Media Advisory: Farley Flex Officially Launches Merry Go Round Children's Foundation's 2006 Program With 100 At-Risk Kids

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - May 24, 2006) - Farley Flex, celebrity judge from Canadian Idol, and Merry Go Round Children's Foundation (MGR), a Toronto-based charity that helps to "level the playing field" for at-risk children across the GTA, will be welcoming all 100 of their participating students at their official 2006 program launch event on Tuesday, May 30th at the Toronto Police Services Headquarters (40 College St.) at 11am.

The Foundation's goals are to create relationships with corporate and community partners to facilitate access to technology, to improve equity of education, and to create long-term opportunity in self-esteem for young people through MGR's Kids, Cops and Computers Program. Each selected student will receive a computer, high-speed Internet access until they graduate from high school and mentoring from a police officer e-buddy from Toronto Police Service, as well as many other opportunities that can improve the outcome and safety for these children, who live in Toronto's most challenged neighbourhoods.

Merry Go Round Children's Foundation (MGR) is an innovative Toronto based charity with a mission to 'level the playing field' and 'turn on learning' for at-risk children. The Foundation, co-founded by G. Scott Paterson in 1997, is a successful partnership between educational, policing and corporate organizations that delivers programming to improve outcomes and safety for youth living in Toronto's most challenged neighbourhoods. The Foundation's goals are to facilitate access to technology, to improve equity of education, and to create long-term opportunity in self-esteem for young people. To date, 350 families have been welcomed to Merry Go Round's "Kids, Cops & Computers" Program.
