Media Advisory: First World War Veteran Turns 109 Years Old

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 17, 2009) - Media are invited to attend a birthday celebration for Mr. John Babcock, Canada's last known First World War Veteran, at his favourite restaurant in Spokane, Washington. Mr. Babcock will be turning 109 years old and will be celebrating with friends and family. The Honourable Greg Thompson, Minister of Veterans Affairs, will attend on behalf of the Government of Canada, and will present special greetings from the Prime Minister and Governor General.
