Media Advisory: First Year Cadet Memorial Arch Parade at the Royal Military College of Canada

KINGSTON, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Aug. 23, 2013) - Media are invited to attend the first-year Cadet march through the Memorial Arch at the Royal Military College of Canada on Saturday, August 24, 2013.

Following the march, cadets will form up at the Royal Military College of Canada parade square located in front of the Mackenzie Building. The Director of Cadets, Lieutenant-Colonel Patrick Lemyre, will then address the Cadets.

When: Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. - Media are asked to be in place by 2:15 p.m. (Be advised that the first-year cadets will begin forming up at 2 p.m.)

Since the 1980s, the cadets march through the Memorial Arch only twice - once when they begin their studies at RMCC, and again when they graduate. The arch was erected in 1923-24 in honour of ex- cadets who bravely laid down their lives for their country.

Note to editors:

In case of inclement weather, the Director of Cadet's address will take place in historic Currie Hall. The march through the Arch will not be affected.
