Media Advisory: Former Canadian Ambassador Speaks on Dealing With Russia's Resurgence at Fraser Institute Luncheon

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Nov. 12, 2008) - In an already complex international arena, Russia has resurfaced as a challenger to global stability. The Georgian war has made the West re-examine its response to the Kremlin as Russia continues to pursue an increasingly authoritarian course under a potentially fragmented leadership.

Join Derek Fraser, former Canadian ambassador, for a discussion on how to manage Russia's resurgence and the implications of expanding Western influence through the inclusion of Georgia and Ukraine in NATO during a Fraser Institute luncheon Thursday, November 13.

Fraser has had a lengthy career with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. He is a former ambassador to Ukraine, Greece, and Hungary. He is now a senior research associate at the Centre for Global Studies at the University of Victoria.

Interested media are invited to attend.
