Media Advisory: Fraser Institute to Announce New Million-Dollar Education Initiative in Alberta

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 26, 2006) - On Tuesday, January 31 at 10:15 am Mountain Time, Children First: School Choice Trust will announce the details of its plan to bring its award-winning program for lower-income, elementary school children to Alberta.

Children First offers grants to children from families in financial need, so that they can attend the independent school of their parents' choice. The only program of its kind in Canada, Children First launched in Ontario in 2003 and is enrolling 800 children in the 2005-06 school year.

Alberta will be the second province in which the program is offered. Details about Children First's Alberta program and its funders will be provided at the event. Children First is a program of The Fraser Institute.
