Media Advisory: Fraser Institute to Release Card on BC and Yukon Secondary School Performance on Wednesday June 17

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - June 16, 2009) - The Fraser Institute will release its Report Card on Secondary Schools in British Columbia and Yukon 2009 on Wednesday June 17 at 6 am (Pacific).

The Fraser Institute's Report Card on Secondary Schools in British Columbia and Yukon 2009 rates 316 public and private secondary schools from across British Columbia and the Yukon using seven key indicators of school performance. Secondary schools in the Yukon follow, for the most part, British Columbia's curriculum and their students participate in exams administered by BC's Ministry of Education.

The report card also includes key demographic information about a school including the number of ESL students, special needs students, and parents' average income. The report card is available at

The report card provides parents with information that they can't easily get anywhere else, allowing them to compare the academic results at schools of interest over a number of years.

A news release with additional information about the report card and the data it contains will be issued via Marketwire on Wednesday, June 17.

There will be special coverage of the Fraser Institute report card's results in the Vancouver Sun and Victoria Times Colonist.
