Media Advisory: Fraser Institute to Release Ontario Elementary School Rankings Sunday, March 27

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 25, 2011) - The Fraser Institute will release its annual Report Card on Ontario's Elementary Schools on Sunday, March 27 at 6:30 a.m. (Eastern).

The report card allows anyone to quickly and easily compare 2,733 Ontario elementary schools based on nine key indicators of academic performance derived from the results of provincewide testing.

The report card displays school results for the past five years, indicating whether a school has improved or declined on any of the indicators over time. The report card also contains valuable demographic information about each school, including average parental income and percentage of ESL and special needs students enrolled, adding context to the rankings.

A news release with additional information will be issued via Marketwire on Sunday, March 27 at 6:30 a.m. (Eastern).

School results will be published in the Toronto Sun, Ottawa Sun, and Osprey-owned newspapers across Ontario the day of the release.

Detailed results for individual schools will also be available in an interactive and searchable format at www.compareschoolrankings.org.

Michael Thomas, Fraser Institute associate director of school performance studies and co-author of the report card, will be in Toronto and available for media interviews the day of the release.
