Media Advisory: Fred Topham's Victoria Cross to be
Graciously Donated to the Canadian War Museum

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 18, 2005) - The 1st Canadian
Parachute Battalion will be donating Corporal Fred Topham's medal set,
including the prestigious Victoria Cross, to the Canadian War Museum.

Cpl Topham earned his Victoria Cross, the highest British Commonwealth
decoration for bravery, during the Rhineland Campaign, which marked the
final Allied push to Nazi Germany, in March 1945. His story, photo and
medals will be displayed in the Second World War Gallery of the new
Canadian War Museum, opening in 2005.
