MEDIA ADVISORY: Free Van Nuys Airport Events Bring Excitement of Aviation to Students/Community

VAN NUYS, CA--(Marketwire - April 23, 2008) -


WHAT:    Aviation Career Day 2008, a career fair for more than 1,400 San
         Fernando Valley middle and high school students, and Van Nuys
         Airport Community Day, a free public event featuring static
         aircraft displays, children's activities and airfield tours,
         will culminate Van Nuys Airport's (VNY's) weeklong celebration of
         its 80th birthday as a leader in aviation, business and community
         service.

         Presented in partnership by VNY, Syncro Aviation, L.A. City
         Councilmember Tony Cardenas and the Economic Alliance of the San
         Fernando Valley, Aviation Career Day 2008 will offer:
         -- Nearly 60 interactive aviation, aerospace, science and
            technology displays.
         -- Motivational address by world-record setter Barrington Irving,
            the first African American and youngest person ever to fly
            solo around the world.
         -- Civilian and military aircraft displays, including the U.S.
            Navy F/A-18 Hornet, U.S. Air Force T-38 Talon and Coast Guard
            C-130 Hercules, plus public service helicopters.
         -- A "build camp," where students can create and fly model
            airplanes, a simulated classroom demonstrating student
            mechanics at work and a "Super Science" area featuring
            hands-on science demonstrations and experiments.

         Co-hosted by VNY, Encino Chamber of Commerce and the Airtel Plaza
         Hotel, Van Nuys Airport Community Day will feature:
         -- Static aircraft displays, including Condor Squadron vintage
            AT-6 Texans.
         -- A "Super Science" area with dozens of interactive science
            activities.
         -- Airfield bus tours for a behind-the-scenes look at the world's
            busiest general aviation airport.
         -- Live entertainment, community and aviation exhibits, and
            concessions.

WHEN/    Aviation Career Day: Friday, April 25, 2008 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WHERE:   at the historic Syncro Hangar, 7701 Woodley Ave., Van Nuys 
        (north of Saticoy Street).

         7 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.   Dedication ceremony with Councilmember
                              Tony Cárdenas and airport officials
                              honors the late Barbara Cesar, co-founder of
                              Syncro Aviation.
         9 a.m. - 2 p.m.      Students participate in Aviation Career Day
                              activities.
         9:15 a.m.            Councilmember Cárdenas/students perform
                              science demonstration.
         10:15 a.m. and       Barrington Irving delivers 10-minute
         11:30 a.m.           motivational speech to students.

         VNY Community Day: Saturday, April 26, 2008 from 10 a.m. to
         4 p.m. at the Airtel Plaza Hotel, 7277 Valjean Ave. (north of
         Sherman Way).

         10 a.m. - 4 p.m.  Community members enjoy airport tours,
         exhibits, aircraft displays and live entertainment.
