Media Advisory: George Galloway Speaks in Montreal

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 11, 2010) - Ex-British MP George Galloway will start his 10 city pan Canadian tour in Montreal on November 17. He will be addressing the issues of peace in Palestine and Afghanistan as well as freedom of expression in Canada.

"I'm looking forward to speaking in person with the many Canadians who have defended their right to hear me, including those who disagree with me," said Mr. Galloway from London, UK.

On September 27, 2010, the Federal Court of Canada ruled that Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Jason Kenney had attempted to ban Galloway from Canada for purely political reasons: "It is clear that the efforts to keep Mr. Galloway out of the country had more to do with antipathy to his political views than with any real concern that he had engaged in terrorism or was a member of a terrorist organization" (paragraph 8).

In addition to his talk in Montreal Mr. Galloway will address the public in 10 other Canadian cities, a tour that will end in Ottawa on November 27. As a part of the tour entitled "Free Palestine. Free Afghanistan. Free Speech" (see for tour schedule) the Montreal event is organized by the "Canadian Boat to Gaza" with the endorsement of many community and human rights organizations.

In Montreal Mr. Galloway will be available for press interviews and will be happy to meet with the media after his talk which will be at salle Marie Gérin-Lajoie in UQAM.
