Media Advisory: Government of Canada to Announce Expanded Support for Military Families

KINGSTON, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 5, 2008) - The Honourable Greg Thompson, Minister of Veterans Affairs, will announce an expansion in support for military families.

The announcement will take place during the national conference of the Operational Stress Injury Social Support (OSISS) Program, a joint initiative of Veterans Affairs Canada and the Department of National Defence.

OSISS provides a network of support and understanding to Canadian Forces members, Veterans and families affected by operational stress injuries-including post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, depression or addiction-and other impacts of military operations. The program is led by Veterans and family members who know the realities first-hand and are able to call upon their own experiences to help others.
