Media Advisory: Government of Canada to Participate in Legion Convention and Present Commendations in Nova Scotia

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwire - May 15, 2009) - Greg Kerr, Parliamentary Secretary representing the Honourable Greg Thompson, Minister of Veterans Affairs, will participate in three events in Halifax and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia on May 17 and 18, 2009.

During the afternoon of May 17, Mr. Kerr, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Veterans Affairs will lay a wreath and deliver greetings at the Opening Ceremonies of The Royal Canadian Legion Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command 49th Biennial Convention.

On the morning of May 18, Mr. Kerr on behalf of the Minister of Veterans Affairs will present the 2009 Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation to 16 citizens of Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador and Quebec. The Commendation is presented to individuals who have contributed to the care and well-being of Veterans and to the remembrance of their contributions, sacrifices and achievements.
