Media Advisory: Governor General to be Inducted as Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 25, 2010) - His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will be inducted as Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) during the annual Induction and Awards ceremony to be held at the National Gallery of Canada, on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 4:30 p.m.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., His Excellency will be inducted as Honorary Fellow, having been nominated by the President and the Council of the Society. He has been elected in recognition of his excellent leadership of Canadian universities, as well as in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Canadian scholarship. During the banquet at 7:10 p.m., His Excellency will deliver an address to recognize the newly elected Fellows for their outstanding scholarly, scientific and artistic achievement. Governors general have been patron of the RSC since 1882.
