Media Advisory: Governor General to Present the First General Romeo Dallaire Award for Scouts

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 6, 2009) - Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada and Chief Scout, will present a series of awards to the Association des scouts du Canada at Rideau Hall, on Thursday, April 9, 2009, at 10 a.m.

The Governor General will present awards to two groups of young recipients as well as to 26 individual members of the Association des scouts du Canada. The General Romeo Dallaire Award for scouts will be presented for the first time. One of the highest honours of the scouting movement, this award recognizes young people, 14 years of age and above, who have successfully completed exceptional projects that promote peace, equity and harmony between women and men, generations and peoples.
