Media Advisory: Governor General to Undertake Official Visit to Alberta

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 24, 2010) - Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will undertake an official visit to Alberta from November 28 to 30, 2010.

Their Excellencies will begin their official visit in the city of Edmonton, where they will attend the 98th Grey Cup Championship.

"It is with great enthusiasm that my wife and I will attend the CFL Championship Game to cheer on two outstanding football teams," said His Excellency David Johnston. "As a sports fan and as a true believer in the importance of physical activity, I am looking forward to sharing this unique experience with Canadians and I am more than honoured to present the Grey Cup to this year's champions."

During their visit, Their Excellencies will meet with the Lieutenant Governor and the Premier of the province, as well as the mayors of the cities of Edmonton and Calgary. They will also participate in a variety of official functions and ceremonies, and meet with many Albertans, including teachers, students, Canadian Forces members, veterans, volunteers, and representatives of the health sector and various community associations.
