Ambassador of Goodwill to Present Program on Character Education and Active Lifestyle

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 28, 2011) - Now in his fourth season with the Harlem Globetrotters, Blenda Rodriguez will visit Naismith Public School in Almonte, Ont., on Tuesday, March 29, at 1:45 p.m.

What: Globetrotters' ball-handling wizard Blenda Rodriguez will be speaking to students about the team's "C.H.E.E.R.™ For Character" program, which focuses on the following character traits: Cooperation; Healthy mind & body; Effort, Enthusiasm and Responsibility. During his visit, Blenda will incorporate the Globetrotters' signature ball-handling skills into a motivational presentation to the students. In addition, students will be challenged to make and keep a commitment to regular physical activity and lead a more active lifestyle.

When: Tuesday, March 29, at 1:45 p.m.

In honour of its 150th anniversary, the Naismith Museum will unveil a bronzed sculpture of James Naismith – an Almonte native and founder of the sport of basketball – this summer, at Centennial Square in Almonte. The Globetrotters are currently one of only eight teams to have been inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.
